Xperia arc users will soon be able to benefit from a series of enhancements on their smartphones, as Ice Cream Sandwich is heading towards them in the form of an alpha flavor of CyanogenMod 9.

Expected to become available later this week, the ROM will bring along ICS and all of its features, though it is only an early development milestone.

Those who would like to download and install it on their devices should keep in mind that it is only an alpha release, which means that there are a lot of bugs that will affect their experience.

Owners of Xperia devices have been already informed that Sony Ericsson will release an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to their phones, but they have no clue on when that might happen.

However, the ROM available from the FreeXperia developer team and CyanogenMod will give Xperia arc users a taste of Android 4.0 before that.
