Owners of an Xperia ion smartphone from Sony can now install new custom ROMs on their handsets, should they want to do so.

The guys over at CyanogenMod have announced the availability of official CM9 nightly builds for their devices, codenamed aoba. The first bits are already available for download from the team’s own servers.

Before hitting the download link, however, users should know that installing custom ROMs on their devices will void the warranty.

The phones will have to be rooted, and users will be held responsible for any issues that might emerge if the process is not performed as it should be.

Those who are aware of these facts and would still like to download and install the custom software will find all they need on the CyanogenMod download website.
