The new snapshot adds support for several new devices

Just a month ago, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet got its first taste of CyanogenMod nightlies and if you liked that, you should know that the M9 snapshot for the tablet has been released into the wild.

The CyanongenMod team usually launches these snapshots – or M-builds – every month. These versions are deemed to be bug-free, because they are subjected to rigorous testing before being rolled out to the public.

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case, but sadly the M builds are the most stable you'll see, as the CyanongenMod team said some time that ago it would no longer compile the fully-tested stable versions.

Anyway, the M9 is now available for the slimmest waterproof tablet in the world and adds a few cool new features, such as the ability to double tap, so you can send the device to sleep.

Furthermore, there’s the proximity wake-up support, which will prevent the device from waking up when it is housed in our purse or some other container, spam notification filtering (you can now long press offending notifications to set them on ignore), better management of Privacy Settings and being able to search in settings, and a few others.

CM has also added the Safe Headset Volume feat, which is prompted when interfering with a 3rd-party device, like the Jawbone or Square.

In the Bluetooth department there are several improvements, including the addition of extra A2DP profiles and the possibility of disabling AVRCP 1.5 by default (plus fix to car unit compatibility).

The smart-dialer now has support for Korean and Chinese and the email function has received a fix that allows saving attachments to storage for POP3 accounts.

Last but not least, the new snapshot adds support for CMDA devices without SIM cards, and the heads up notifications department has been ridden of a bunch of bugs.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is available for purchase in multiple markets around the world, including the US.

Sadly, if you own the Verizon LTE variant, you won’t be allowed access in ROM land. The carrier’s anti-custom ROM policy is quite well known, so until somebody comes with an intelligent way to unlock the bootloader, there’s not much you can do about it.

The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is the company’s 2014 flagship device. It arrives with a 10.1-inch Triluminous display taking advantage of the company’s new Live color LED tech and offers full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

Under the hood lies a Snapdragon processor fitted with 3GB of RAM, so it makes for a pretty decent device to be had.
