OnePlus One owners, rejoice, as the company behind Google's Android competitor, Cyanogen, has just announced that OS 12 is now available for the Chinese smartphone.

Cyanogen OS 12 update is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and should have been released sometime in late March. In fact, OnePlus promised to release the major upgrade on March 31 but then backtracked on the promise and announced that it would take more than a few days to deliver it.

It looks like it's been about two weeks since the deadline, and Cyanogen has managed to finally certify the update and start seeding it to OnePlus One devices.

The latest Cyanogen OS 12 update for OnePlus One smartphones brings the new Material Design language that plays a major role in Android 5.0 Lollipop as well.

In addition, the update should also add extra theming features. Thanks to the new feature called App Themer, OnePlus One users will be able to theme individual apps using either free or paid themes.

New email app and Material Design

There's also a new Cyanogen email, which is powered by Boxer. According to the developer, the premium version comes free to all Cyanogen OS users and provides a new email experience that should be more complete than the previous one.

Boxer's email app includes Exchange support, multiple account integration, great customization with options to select a different LED color for email notifications, as well as the possibility to choose what happens when you swipe left or right on a message.

On a side note, those who own OnePlus One smartphones powered by Oxygen OS received their Lollipop-based update a few weeks ago, so the circle should now be complete.

In other news, Cyanogen has announced that OS 12 update will be pushed to YU Yureka smartphones “very soon,” but an exact release date hasn't been provided yet.
