HTC is preparing the release of a new version of Touch Diamond, the high-end Pocket PC first unveiled at the beginning of May. Codenamed HTC Victor, the new device will be available from the largest mobile operators in Taiwan: Chunghwa Telecom (later in June) and Taiwan Mobile (in August).

[admark=1]The difference between the upcoming Touch Diamond and the one already available is that the new one will not feature the diamond-like pattern on its back case and it has a more rounded shape.

According to DigiTimes, the HTC Victor offered by Chunghwa Telecom will be more affordable than the Diamond, retailing for 21,000 Taiwanese dollars (about $690), as opposed to 23,000 TWD - the price of Touch Diamond.

The new Diamond seems to be the same, when it comes to design, as the CDMA edition of the Pocket PC that was officially announced by Telus for Canada. Moreover, the T-Mobile version of Touch Diamond, which should be released in Europe as well as in the US in the next months, seems to be, in fact, the HTC Victor.

Besides the design differences, Touch Diamond and Victor are basically the same device, featuring the following features: a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with a VGA resolution (480 x 640 pixels), the famous TouchFLo 3D User Interface, 4 GB of internal memory, GPS and A-GPS, Wi-Fi, GSM and HSDPA connectivity, advanced email and Web capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Media player and a 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus - all controlled by the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

Chunghwa Telecom has released the original version of HTC Touch Diamond on July 10. By the end of 2008, the Taiwanese carrier (which currently has almost 8 million subscribers) plans to sell the Pocket PC in more than 40,000 units.
