Google Maps is a service provided by the search giant that seems to be one of the most configurable applications ever designed by Google because multiple internet users tried to produce other tools that can enhance the functionality of the service. Some time ago, I wrote an article that presented an interesting game that allows you to fly over the Google Maps and admire the imagery provided by the service directly from the plane. Today, I found an interesting service that enables you to customize the Google Maps service and
personalize it for your wedding, helping you create attracting invitations with detailed maps of certain locations.
As you might know, Google Maps API is another service provided by the company that helps you design your own maps and images. Because the solution is more and more popular, some software developers created an interesting tool that can help you add shadows to the elements included into Google Maps.
"It is easy to program custom markers for the Google Maps API, but getting the right shadow behind your icon is difficult. I personally don't like to spend lots of time in image editing software for tasks that can be automated. Having read several descriptions for creating the kind of semi-3d shadow that is expected for a marker icon in the Maps API, I wrote a Java2D-based application to automate this task," the developers described the product.
The solution is quite easy to use because all you need to do is visit the
official website, press on the Start Shadowmaker button, upload your image and then use the Make Shadow option. The service instantly creates your image and also provides you with the Google Maps API code that allows you to use the resulted picture into the search giant's solution.
