An Apple customer writing over at the Support Communities site claims to have gone through several iPhone 4 replacements only to get a fifth device that’s also exhibiting issues.

Identified as ardgnue on the Apple Support Communities forum, the customer shares his story with fellow Apple fans, saying:

“I have have my iPhone 4 replaced by Apple for the 5th time. All for different issues in less that 1 year.

1) proximity sensor bad. 2) touch screen had developed deadspot, would repeat type of single letter infinitely. 3) bad microphone. 4) bad simm [sic] 5) speaker died (at Apple Store)"

He explains that his fifth iPhone is only a few days old now, but has already developed microphone issue.

“After a few minutes on call with 5 full Bars, my collogues tell me i am breaking up and or they can not here me,” he writes.

While some may say it’s the antennagate issue plaguing his fifth replacement iPhone, user ardgnue explains: “I am sitting in my office with an AT&T 3G Micro Cell about 6 feet away. The micocell is connect to a 20MBPS fibre optic cable ISP” - therefore signal should not be a problem for him.

“[W]hen I am on the road with high signal 3-5 bars 3G signal form different sources the same issue still occurs - the microphone breaks up and then dies,” ardgnue elaborates.

The user claims he purchased the original iPhone 4 a full year ago, in June from an AT&T store. The iPhone 3G he had owned before worked flawlessly, he said.

“I have 2 year warranty but it does not cover my time wasted,” he stresses. “I was told at Apple store that I have just had bad luck with this phone. Getting 5 defective iPhones is more than bad luck. Its bad business,” he concludes.

The customer, however, does not plan on giving up.

Rather than repeat the move - replace his defective iPhone - he now contemplates a different course of action.

The problem is he doesn’t know what else can be done: “Who do I contact now? This has to be address[ed],” ardgnue ends his post.

Anyone have any suggestions?
