It seems that golf is one of those sports which start to gain huge popularity, if we are to judge by the number of golf simulation games recently released. And it seems that things are not going to stop too soon, on the contrary: we should expect even more similar titles to be released by the end of the year. Joining the tough battle for the best of the best is Lexicon Entertainment's CustomPlay Golf 2009, a game that's going to be released this October for PC systems, while Nintendo Wii consoles will get it in early 2009.

The game promises to revitalize golf experience by bringing players the most realistic gameplay (how many times have we heard that before?), skillfully mixed with little "extras" that will make the game to be more attractive for casual gamers.

"We are excited to be working with the CustomPlay Golf team as their experience and knowledge in the creation a golf game is exceptional. Lexicon Entertainment believes they can create a new unique benchmark as they truly understand the most important nuances of this great sport and we believe a golf title that will have gamers coming back for more," said Christopher Allcroft, President of Publishing for Lexicon Entertainment.

Built on CustomPlay Golf 2, this new title brings no less than 15 golf championships with realistic physics, swing mechanics and, of course, lots of player customization. The graphical aspect of the game is a little problematic, though, since CustomPlay Golf looks more like a "2004" than a "2009". But we all know that, for some people, great gameplay is better than anything else.

However, one of the most important features of the game is its customization: the editor allows anyone to make any kind of course from scratch. Also, you can create players and tailor their looks and playing style and, during the matches, you can setup the game according to tee time, weather, pin location and so on - which means, in just two words, that the game is fully customizable.
