It makes sense that the company wouldn't let LG hold the spotlight for long

The other day, LG announced the availability of its 55-inch curved OLED TV, priced at €8,999/$12,000. Now, Samsung is doing something quite similar.

In fact, Samsung has one-upped LG, since its own 55-inch curved OLED display is actually cheaper: €7,999 / $10,697.

Other than the shape of the screen and the brightness associated with OLED technology, the specs aren't too shocking, although the frame is quite thin.

In all honesty, I'm not surprised to see this happen, especially so close to IFA 2013. Samsung and LG have actually sued each other over OLED before (Samsung claimed LG orchestrated a leak in its technology, at corporate level), so the rivalry is bound to last for a long time.

As expected, the newcomer has Smart TV features (like an interactive multimedia gallery tour guide).
