3 geeks create a place where Apples can mix with other Apples

If you’re an Apple fan worried that you’ll end up with a PC user, worry no more. Three geeks (two developers and a designer) with backgrounds at Google, Microsoft and Yahoo have announced Cupidtino, “a beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products by fans of Apple products.”

“Diehard Mac & Apple fans often have a lot in common – personalities, creative professions, a similar sense of style and aesthetics, taste, and of course a love for technology,” the San Francisco-based trio explain. “We believe these are enough reasons for two people to meet and fall in love, and so we created the first Mac-inspired dating site to help you find other Machearts around you.” According to the message posted on the front page of cupidtino.com, the service is set to go live in June 2010 and will work exclusively on Apple platforms (obviously) through Safari, and iPhone / iPad apps. “It’s time to share the love,” the post concludes.

The three claim to be obsessed with Apple products, this being one of the main ingredients in their decision to create Cupidtino. “We’re privately funded and would love to discuss interesting partnership opportunities,” they add. The company’s skeleton staff (as Cult of Mac puts it) is also on the lookout for “a strong Ruby developer,” “an awesome designer,” and “a PR guy/gal that can manage our social buzz.” “If you love the idea of Cupidtino, live in the Bay area, and are obviously a Mac, drop us a line with your portfolio,” the three Cupids say.

You can apply for the beta here (email address required). When your subscription is confirmed, the company will let you know as soon as the site is live and ready for public beta. It estimates that this will occur sometime between late May and early June.

Softpedia note

It will be interesting to see how many Apple fans will subscribe. Though, what particular topics could possible get two people to hit it off using Cupidtino: “How many iPhone apps do you have;” “Yes, my adapter’s cable is also starting to fray;” “Going back to Leopard because I like the old Expose”?

And, after answering all these questions with “me too,” then what? “Let’s grab a cup of coffee sometime”? Hopefully, the service will allow users to focus mostly on themselves (complete with picture galleries and other Facebook-type stuff) rather than on the gadgetry. The latter should only act as an excuse, if we’re going to move this species forward.
