P.J. Esteves, the design director working on Ryse: Son of Rome, says that his company’s graphics-focused development process and the power of the Xbox One allow the game to be one of the best-looking products currently offered on next-gen consoles.

VG247 quotes the developer as saying that, “Improvements in facial animation pipelines are great too. It’s a terrible way to say it, but CryEngine and the Xbox One have let our game be the hot one at the launch prom.”

Despite its beauty, Ryse: Son of Rome has been criticized for its nonsensical story and for its rather limited gameplay mechanics.

The title is only offered on the Xbox One in 13 launch territories as part of the launch line-up.

Crytek is reportedly working on an entirely new intellectual property that will be launched on both next-gen consoles in the future.
