Crytek, the company behind the upcoming Crysis 2 first-person shooter, has talked about the big leak that happened last week, when a build of the game appeared onto torrent sites, with over a month before the title's actual release.

PC pirates had a field day, as even if the build of the game was incomplete, with several bugs and glitches, not to mention missing textures or things like that, it racked up a huge amount of downloads.

Crytek was really disappointed, not because people pirated the game, but because the build was an early one and didn't properly convey the new technological advancements of the shooter.

Nathan Camarillo, one of the Crytek producers, expressed his studio's view on the whole issue and how piracy has now affected all current-generation platforms, from the PC to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii.

"For us specifically, it was a very traumatic experience because we're really excited about the game and the quality that we were able to get into it and what we were able to accomplish...We're at the end and we're really excited about where we're at and your game gets leaked. And it's not even that the final version of the game gets leaked, you know?"

The build was compiled in the middle of January, so people should know that a lot of the issues, glitches and problems throughout it have been fixed by Crytek's team of over 250 developers.

Camarillo concluded, saying that the leaked Crysis 2 was a "really ugly version that we don't want anyone to see."

"All this stuff starts going up in pieces and even if someone downloads it and plays it themselves they might make a bad decision based on the fact that there are so many bugs in it. 'Oh, there are so many bugs in the game I wanted to play. It's so buggy, I'm not gonna buy it now.'," he added.

Crysis 2 is set to appear on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 22, in North America, and March 25, in Europe.
