Yes Crysis fans, not only have you been treated to a number of free maps with the arrival of 2008, but now Crytek has just released the very first patch for the game, promising to fix, update and tweak your gameplay experience.

Stuff such as fixes for memory leaks and potential crashes, reduced grenade explosion radius in multiplayer and improved overall rendering performance (DX9 and DX10), should appeal to fans of Crytek's first-person shooter quite a bit. But why don't you just check out the full changelog below:

Fixes: - Damage dealt to vehicles when shot by LAW has been made consistent - F12 (screenshot) now works in restricted mode as well - When player melees during gun raise animation, their gun will not be in a permanently raised position anymore - Memory leaks and potential crashes

Updates: - Improved SLI / Crossfire support and performance - Improved overall rendering performance (DX9 and DX10) - Enabled VSync functionality in D3D10

Tweaks: - Reduced grenade explosion radius in multiplayer - Clamped water tessellation to avoid cheating in MP - Reduced LAW splash damage vs. infantry in PowerStruggle mode - Slowed Rocket projectile speed down in MP slightly

As for the newly released maps which you can download right HERE, right now, here are some details:

Power Struggle - Desolation - Crossroads - Training

Instant Action - Excavation (Note: If you have installed an earlier version of it please remove it completely before installing this map pack!) - Terminal"

Crytek has confirmed that "both the two Instant Action and three Power Struggle maps have been tested over several weeks and are optimized for competitive gamelay, but also provide a valid size for public gaming. Quite a few of the Trusted Server Providers of Crysis have already set up multiple servers that are running the map pack. Just check them out online and enjoy the new maps!"
