Cryptic Studios is a pretty popular developer, with creations such as Star Trek Online and Champions Online currently in development. Although not much is known about the latter, we do know a lot of things about the much loved space-themed online project, aimed to take the best Star Trek experience and give it to players in a very attractive package.

Although the developer did appear to specialize in creating games specifically for the PC and the Xbox 360, it now seems that the company wants to take its very well-built MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) concepts to the PlayStation 3. A few people spotted a job opening from the game developer stating that it wanted to employ some experienced PS3 programmers in an effort to port the games that it has already developed to the Japanese console.

"We have developed a flexible, cutting edge MMO platform to power games like Champions and Star Trek Online. It runs on PC and XBOX 360 – now we want to support PS3 too," reads the job post made by the company. Those who are interested in applying must have a "thorough understanding of the PS3 – SPUs, RSX, SPURS multi-threading, etc."

Some very interesting news, which is sure to make the pretty big number of PS3 users happy as it definitely looks like their much loved platform will get some quality MMORPGs. Let's just hope that this means the company is going to get some more experienced staff and it will continue to bring the same high-quality, well-polished games to its customers.

For those of you who don't know, Champions Online will be appearing for the PC and Xbox 360, while the Star Trek MMORPG doesn't have a concrete platform listing. But now it really looks like the PS3 will make its way onto the list of platforms that these pretty eagerly anticipated titles will be released on.
