The team at Paradox Interactive announces that it is launching a new Crusader Kings Short Story Contest 2014 in order to give fans an outlet to express their creativity and love for the grand strategy title before the launch of the Charlemagne expansion for CK II.

The official announcement states, “The Charlemagne expansion will focus on storytelling in various forms, so we found it fitting to invite you to tell your stories inspired by Crusader Kings. Five winning entries will be published in an anthology, released in ebook and print format by Paradox Books.”

Steven Savile and other authors will be involved in judging the entries in the contest and will decide who the winners are.

The short story needs to be about 5,000 words long and to be inspired by something that gamers have done or seen happen in a game of Crusader Kings II.

Authors also need to deliver 200 words about themselves and another 200 about the historical context of the narrative they have created.

Entries in the Crusader Kings II short story contest need to be delivered by October 15 of this year.

The Charlemagne expansion for the strategy title will bring the start date down to 769 and will focus on the personality of the king that dominated early Medieval history.
