The developer and publisher Paradox Interactive has officially announced that they are working on new downloadable content for Crusader Kings II, called Sword of Islam, designed to allow gamers to select and play as rulers that are not Christian.

The development team plans to introduce the new DLC at the same time as a new patch for Crusader Kings II, which is designed to expand the map into Mali and Songhay, differentiate between strong and weak claims and introduce more combat mechanics.

Gamers can also use new plot options to advance their own aims.

The Muslim rulers will deliver a new gameplay experience with different handling of elements like laws, marriage, traits, titles and family relations.

The 1.06 patch for Crusader Kings II and the Sword of Islam DLC will both be delivered during the second half of June, through Steam and other digital distribution services.

Gamers will have to pay 9.99 dollars or Euro for the new content.
