This release improves performance over 000F versions that are specific to Windows 8 OS

Crucial has released the 07MH Firmware Version for its m4 mSATA SSD that comes with two update utilities compatible with Windows 7 and 8, respectively, as well as a manual boot file that is OS independent.

This new package improves performance over the 000F versions that are specific to recent Ultrabooks and Windows 8 running systems. Although it’s not a fact, devices running on Windows 7 or other OSes might receive improvements as well.

In addition to the 04MH version, this release fixes a start-up timing issue that usually occurred while exiting the Sleep or Hibernation System States. Even though rarely, this problem caused the SSD to hang and kill the communication with the host computer.

As for installing the update, the easiest methods are for Windows 7 and 8 OSes through the Update Utility – just run the tool and follow the on-screen steps. The only difference between the utilities would be that the Windows 7-based tool requires a system reboot to start the process.

So, if your system is running under these platforms, feel free to use the utility methods to update the SSD Firmware Version.

If this isn’t an option, then the upgrade must be done manually. Therefore, you must create a bootable media with the ISO file within the downloadable archive and boot the system from the CD or USB drive – while booting, a “Waiting for DRQ” message may appear (this is normal).

When asked, type “yes” to start and confirm the update process, and when it’s complete, the version will be listed. Bear in mind that if the firmware displayed is not 07MH, you must repeat the process from the beginning (a restart can be performed by typing “AUTOEXEC.BAT”).

After the process is finished, turn off the system by holding the power button, disconnect the bootable media drive, and power back on the device.

Moreover, Crucial recommends an SSD backup, a plugged-in device while updating, as well as removing or disabling all the driver passwords so that the process may not suffer any interferences.

This said, follow the link below and download the one that best describes the update method you are comfortable with.
