It's truly a nice thing that the guys back at the Crucial headquarters are really listening to their customers, especially when it comes to customers complaining.

We are happy to announce that the new Crucial M4 SSD firmware, version 0309, is now ready and he have it available for download. Users have reported blue screens after roughly 5000 hours of usage and their SSD's becoming unstable, therefore rather worthless.

Crucial initially responded that a new version of the firmware should be ready in a fortnight or so, but they've managed to speed things up. The 0309 is compatible with M4 and not with SAS Expander. A SAS Expander version will be out soon, but with no estimated date.

Crucial says that the M4 firmware can be safely upgraded directly from either revision 0001, 0002, or 0003. The SMART counter issue has been corrected and Crucial claims that updating the firmware will not affect the data on the driver, but backing up your files is a good idea, anyway.

You can download the Crucial M4 SSD firmware 0309 as of now.
