CrossOver Mac Is Free to Download Today

CodeWeavers is providing a copy of CrossOver for free to all comers this Halloween, Wednesday, October 31, from 00:00 until 23:59 pm, Central Daylight Time.

Newcomers will simply get a free copy of the app, while existing customers will get a free 12-month extension added to their entitlement. To sign up for a free copy or free 12-month extension, customers must visit this web page.

CrossOver is a nifty piece of software that enables Mac and Linux users to run Windows programs on their computers without having to install Windows itself.

The Wine-based application is not a virtualization solution either, so it doesn’t take up the resources generally required by the likes of VMware Fusion, or Parallels.

And while it doesn’t support all Windows apps, it will run the most popular ones without a hiccup.
