CodeWeavers announced on July 10 the immediate availability for download of the CrossOver 13.2.0 application for all supported operating systems, including Linux and Mac OS X.

CrossOver 13.2.0 brings various stability fixes for games that run with the Performance Enhanced Graphics option enabled and allows users to install the Adobe Acrobat 10 and 11 applications.

Josh DuBois from CodeWeavers welcomes users to download and install or upgrade to the second maintenance release of CrossOver 13: “I am delighted to announce that CodeWeavers has just released CrossOver 13.2.0 for both Mac OS X and Linux.”

This maintenance release still has some issues with the 3.14 branch of the Linux kernel, which broke the built-in support for 16-bit code. Because of this, the program will inform users about it if it detects a kernel from the 3.14 series and automatically creates a Windows 98 container around it.

“CrossOver 13.2.0 provides much greater ease of installation for Linux users. With CrossOver 13.2.0, more Windows applications will run out-of-the box on a fresh installation of CrossOver,” he added.

The good news for Linux users is that CrossOver 13.2.0 has some additional dependencies, which makes it support even more Windows applications, without any interaction from them.

It is also very important to mention that the CodeWeavers website now supports registration of usernames that contain certain non-Latin characters. We remind everyone that CrossOver is a graphical user interface (GUI) for the highly-acclaimed Wine application, which enables Linux users to install and run mission critical Windows apps on top of a Linux box.

“In the Linux version of CrossOver 13.2.0 we have changed our philosophy about what to install automatically alongside CrossOver. In the past, CrossOver sought to have the smallest possible footprint by depending only on packages which were absolutely necessary for CrossOver to run.”

“Many times, this meant that our Linux users were forced to install additional packages to get Windows applications running. With CrossOver 13.2.0, we have made the CrossOver Linux packages depend on many of the most common packages which Windows applications need,”  Josh DuBois said in the CrossOver 13.2.0 announcement.

Download CrossOver 13.2.0 for Linux and CrossOver 13.2.0 for Mac OS X right now from Softpedia. Whereas existing customers will get this update for free, new ones must pay 39.95 USD (29.37 EUR).
