Popular retail chain Croma has taken the opportunity to launch its own branded tablets and a 2-in-1 convertible onto the market in India.

Croma is a major Indian retail conglomerate for consumer electronics and durables, and like others before it (for example Flipkart), it is now rolling out products under its own banner.

Earlier today we told you that tablet sales tended to be stalling and 2-in-1 convertibles were the ones that tended to draw the attention of customers these days.

With this in mind, Croma has put out a 2-in-1 machine but also a tablet, reports BGR India. The 1179 tablet comes with an 8-inch display and offers the standard tab resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with 160ppi.

Under the hood lies an Intel Atom Z3735D processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and backed up by 32GB of internal storage.

The slate runs Windows 8.1 out of the box (it’s not Windows 8.1 with Bing), has two cameras (2MP on the back and 2MP in front), and relies on a 5000 mAh battery. The tab will be sold for Rs. 13,990 / $231 / €171.

As for the convertible, the machine is dubbed 1172 and naturally can be used either as a tablet or a laptop.

The device arrives with a 10.1-inch display and draws power from an Intel Atom Z3734D processor. It has been equipped with two cameras (the same as in the case of the tablet), but unlike the tablet, its adds 3G support.

The operating system onboard is the same as in the case of the slate, so you’ll be able to take advantage of all the goodness of Windows 8.1.

The 2-in-1 can be purchased for Rs. 21,990 / $363/ €270.

Now if you feel that these tablet products are a little bit overpriced for your taste and you wouldn't mind trading Windows 8.1 for Android, competing retail giant Flipkart has an alternate option for you.

The Digiflip Pro XT712 is a slate that arrives with a 7-inch IPS HD display with the same resolution as the Croma, meaning 1280 x 800 pixels.

The tablet draws power from a processor manufactured by a low-chip maker, in the form of a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Other specs include microSD card slot, two cameras (5MP on the back, 2MP in front), 3G connectivity, and even dual-SIM support. This can all be yours for $166 / €122 if you can get over not having Windows 8.1 onboard.
