Croft Holds The Crown for A Second Week

It's another legendary week for Eidos as Lara Croft picks off the competition to retain the top spot, new entries from several publishers failing to make an impact on the re-shuffled top ten listing.

Vivendi's animated movie tie-in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown manages to freeze out the competition, climbing two to claim second place and pushing The Godfather down to fourth, while EA's urban soccer title FIFA Street 2 holds its place in third for the third consecutive week.

Xbox 360 and PSP versions of Football Manager 2006 give Sega a re-entry at number five, and there's no change for Nintendo as continued sales of Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS keeps the title firmly locked in at number six.
Relentless Software's Buzz: The Big Quiz enjoys a bonus round, climbing one place from eight to seven, and Ubisoft gets a boost from the DVD launch and some heavy retail promotion, as everyone's favorite primate jumps seven places from fifteen to eight in King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie.


Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter loses some ground, slipping four places from fourth to ninth, facing a new attack from the rear in the shape of EA's Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, which enters the chart at number ten following the release of the enhanced Xbox 360 version.

Elsewhere in the charts, Square Enix' latest RPG, Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King debuts at number six in the PS2 chart, reaching nineteen in the all-formats listing, while Sony's latest karaoke effort SingStar Rocks makes a noise in the budget sector with a number three debut, but that still only puts it at eighteen in the all-formats chart.
New releases due this week ought to shake things up a little, as Square Enix launches the Xbox 360 debut of Final Fantasy XI, while PC fans gain the expansion pack. Sony prepares for a wet weekend with SOCOM 3: US Navy Seals, and the Nintendo DS gains a slew of innovative new titles and an old classic re-invented, with the launch of Elektroplankton, Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shop and Tetris DS.
