In case there are some of you who still doubt it, here is a photo that I for one believe is good proof that crocodiles are some of the world's most gifted predators.

The picture was taken by a wildlife photographer named Alejandro Prieto in Costa Rica, and it shows a crocodile hurling its body out of the water and catching an unsuspecting turtle by the head.

The attack took place in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, in an area that is part and parcel of the country's Corcovado National Park, Daily Mail informs.

Apparently, the turtle tried to put up a fight. However, the crocodile eventually managed to drag it under the water, the same source details. It's safe to assume that the unlucky turtle became the crocodile's midday snack.

All things considered, the turtle might have had the chance to escape this most gruesome death, had the crocodile grabbed it by its shell, which might have proven tough enough to protect it.

However, seeing how it was caught off guard and ended up with its head inside the crocodile's mouth in a matter of seconds, this turtle had very little chances to survive, regardless of how ready and willing it might have been to fight its attacker off.
