Keepers haven't yet figured out if the baby gibbon is a male or a female

Not long ago, a female Northern white-cheeked gibbon living in captivity at the Gibbon Conservation Center in California delivered a healthy baby. The tiny gibbon was quick to grab hold of its mom, and has not let go since.

Judging by the look of her face in the picture above, the gibbon mom does not mind having to spend every waking hour of every day looking after the little furball attached to her body.

Keepers at the Conservation Center have not yet been able to get close enough to the baby gibbon to determine whether it is a boy or a girl, Zoo Borns reports.

Seeing how males turn black as they age, it seems like all they have to do is wait and see if the tiny creature stays light colored or if its fur begins to darken.

Still, odds are they'll prefer to carry out a veterinary exam and find the answer to this question sooner rather than later.
