Microsoft officially rolled out this month’s Patch Tuesday updates a few hours ago, trying to fix vulnerabilities reported in Windows, Office, and Internet Explorer.

As far as the browser is concerned, the MS13-047 security bulletin is rated as “critical” and is supposed to patch Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 on all Windows versions. The update, on the other hand, has a severity rating of “moderate” on Windows servers, but it addresses the same IE flavors.

“The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer,” Microsoft explained.

“An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.”

Microsoft claims that the issue has been privately reported, so no successful exploits have been recorded so far. Of course, the bulletin is delivered via the built-in Windows Update, regardless of the OS version you’re running.
