Some people might see the similarities

The racing game genre hasn't seen very interesting additions lately, as the latest Need For Speed Undercover didn't really manage to live up to all of the hype that had been built around it. Gamers, although they wanted a classic NFS title, after the disappointing ProStreet one, were unhappy with the technical glitches in it, and were forced to go back to Burnout: Paradise, another racing game published by Electronic Arts.

It seems that Criterion's racer is still very popular with gamers, and the development team behind it wants it to stay that way, as it has just announced the next cars that will be arriving via DLC (Downloadable Content) for the extreme car racing title. After showcasing a car very “similar” to the DeLorean found in the famous Back to the Future series of movies, it seems three more vehicles will be joining it, all of them inspired by famous models from various TV series, and they will all appear in the Legendary DLC Pack.

“We’re keeping things pretty much under wraps on these vehicles for the moment. After all, we’ve got a ton of exciting content arriving at the beginning of February to tell you about first. But before we get into that, we couldn’t resist bringing you the first images of these spectacular vehicles: the Manhattan Spirit, the Carson Nighthawk and the Cavalry Bootlegger,” reads the official announcement made on the Criterion blog.

First of all, the Manhattan Spirit is a classic car, which most Ghostbusters fans will find quite interesting, as it is modeled after the Ecto-1, the vehicle used by the famous ghost eradicating team in the movies. The Carson Nighthawk is designed after the famous Knight Rider television series, complete with an LED light, which begins to pulsate in bright blue when the player engages the nitrous system. And last but not least, Dukes of Hazzard fans will get a special treat when they'll hop into the Cavalry Bootlegger, as it is based on the famous General Lee Dodge Challenger, which remained in fans’ minds as a great car for stunt jumps.

All in all, it definitely seems that Burnout fans will have something to look forward to in the next few weeks, as the DLC pack hasn't received a concrete launch date just yet. These cars might also appear in the PC version of Burnout: Paradise, which is scheduled to be launched in the following months.
