Once returning to England this summer, Cristiano Ronaldo had to reassure the Manchester United fans that he's there for good. And it wasn't an easy job, since the Portuguese stated - soon after the World Cup - that he wants to hear nothing about English football. He then appointed Real Madrid as his dream squad.
No matter how hard he tried to convince the Man U fans that he didn't mean to say those things, Ronaldo still had a hard time re-integrating in the Premiership. Apart from the booing outside Old Trafford, Cristiano is still
on the mission to enter the Devils' hearts. And, after a great start of a season, Ronaldo decided to speak about his life in Manchester.
"
It is true that, before returning to Manchester, I said in an interview that anything could happen. But this was a club that gave me a lot of support, and where I have won a lot of things, and the situation needed to be analyzed calmly. With the support of the president Jorge Mendes and of Alex Ferguson I took the decision to stay very calmly and I really think it was the best decision", said the young Portuguese.
He added: "
When we are hot-headed sometimes we say things we don't mean to or, at least, that are not appropriate. If that happens we don't want to accept that we were wrong or that some people were wrong. What's important is that things turned out well. I hope that things will continue to carry on in the same way for me, or even better. There's one thing I'm sure of: Manchester United is the ideal club for me".
The 21-year old was part of the "Rooney sent-off scandal" inside the English media. When captured by the camera winking at his bench colleagues - after Rooney was shown the red card - Ronaldo was given an appropriate treatment by the Albion press. The fans broke into his home in Manchester and his cousin got molested by English supporters.
Although everybody was asking for his departure, Cristiano Ronaldo was convinced by Alex Ferguson to stay at Old Trafford. His colleagues also defended him when booed at the away game and things are starting to get back to normal now.
