We've been waiting for a Final Fantasy VII remake for 10 years now, as the title's graphics do no justice to the superb storyline and characters. It seems that we'll see a revamped FF VII coming up on the PS3 or perhaps the PSP. The secret ending of Crisis Core hints at a future remake of Square-Enix's hit title, probably
on Sony's next-gen console.
There's a chance to check out this video below and you'll recognize the good old FF VII intro, featuring next-gen graphics. Hardcore fans of the title were always anxious to hear the good news from Square-Enix, but every major gaming show left them disappointed as there wasn't any info about a remake of the blockbuster FF game. We shouldn't question the existence of such a title, wondering instead if it's going to include extra content.
In case you're playing the Japanese version of Crisis Core, you should know that this secret ending is unlocked after the second completion of the game, in New Game + mode. I'm getting ready to play the FF VII titles in their chronological order right now, as the cult game has turned into a saga featuring 6 media products: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2), Crisis Core (PSP), Final Fantasy VII (PSX), Before Crisis (Mobile), Advent Children (movie), Last Order (anime).
I'm curious to see this revamped title, especially because I have a feeling that it will be released earlier than the long awaited FF XIII or FF XIII Versus titles. Even if a thousand prequels and sequels are launched, the fact that we'll never see Aeris (or Aerith) alive again surely troubles many fans of the game. Her death was so sad at the end of the first FF VII CD that fanboys still cry nowadays thinking about that cutscene.
Excuse me this is not a secret you get it every time you finish the game even in japanese version, plus thats not an alternate or a secret ending and its not both.
The ending simply connects Crisis Core and FFVII, it doesn't mean that we should get our hopes up for a remake. According to an article I read when googling "remake of FFVII", that sounded really assuring, a remake of the game into the same graphics as FFXIII would take way too long to complete and would become too big to release on our current consoles. I know that this article is old, and I don't want to start a debate, but nobody has promised a remake of FFVII, they've just said that it would be fun, profitable and that they would like to make a remake of it the most out of the other games is the series. Sorry for resurrecting this old matter, but at least people coming after me will be a little bit more enlightened. If you want to look into the article I mentioned, try googling it, I seem to have forgotten the adress... :P (I am a big fan of Final Fantasy and hope there will be a remake just as much as anyone else would, so don't get me wrong. :) )
