Criminal Steals from Children to Gamble

Gregory Thomas Kopiloff is nobody you've heard of, but he's a vicious cyber-criminal that used LimeWire to help him steal a lot of money from accounts. He had stolen the information from teenage-children-operated computers that had Limewire installed, as SMH informs.

So this is what he
did - he installed the file-sharing program and then searched the web for files that would provide him with sensitive info on different people. Instead of searching for "porn xxx hot hot sexxy movie DVD rip" or "Lake of Tears bootleg" or more popular keywords, he instead searched for "federal tax return" and guess what - he ended up finding hundreds of such files! Now, this is downright stupid, sharing files with personal data! Why would you do that? Doesn't make sense - who else except a hacker that wants to do some nasty stuff with them would want to download such things?

In any case, what he did afterwards was to go and buy stuff from the web, using the credit cards. It was a smart thing for him not to take money out of the accounts and directly placing it into his. After he received the product he would sell it for half price, thus obtaining profit. Now, what do you think he did with the money? He spent it on his gambling habits. I wouldn't be surprised if he had lost some of them in bot filled poker rooms controlled by other hackers.

He had 83 victims out of which the majority were teenage children, but investigators think that there are a lot more affected, as I've seen on the same site mentioned above. Thing is this guy is just one of thousands that are doing this, that's why people need to be more careful and start thinking twice before they share some files. What he was doing was highly illegal, so please do not try to do this yourself, as it will have penal consequences!
