Thomas Gibson, the handsome and talented actor known for his roles on “Dharma and Greg” and “Criminal Minds,” is making headlines for non-work related issues: he was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of DUI.

Though he hardly makes the news for something scandalous, Gibson is now getting plenty of media attention after driving through a barricade set up for a night marathon in Los Angeles, the inaugural New Year’s Race – Los Angeles at Night, the Daily News informs.

The actor was detained when police officers smelled alcohol on his breath after he had made his way through the barricade even though he wasn’t supposed to.

He refused to take a breathalyzer test and was taken to the police station, where he was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence.

He did not resist the arrest, reports online indicate.

Gibson’s bail was set at $15,000 (€11,376), which he made in half an hour, and he will have to show up in court at a later date to answer to the charges.

“Gibson, 50, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. [Sunday] by the Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division and booked at 1:37 a.m., according to booking information posted on the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Inmate Information website,” Daily News writes.

“The event included a half marathon, a 5K race, a kids' fun run and a health and fitness expo on a zig-zag pattern of downtown landmarks between Staples Center, the Fashion District, the Broadway shopping district, City Hall, Chinatown and Dodger Stadium,” the same media outlet notes of the marathon.

“Figueroa Street, 11th Street, Los Angeles Street, Seventh Street, Broadway, Main Street, Sunset Boulevard and Stadium Way were among the downtown streets closed for the event,” the report further says.

Gibson is due in court on January 31.
