Nick Gordon is prime suspect in criminal investigation into Bobbi Kristina's near-drowning, reports say

Bobbi Kristina Brown remains in the hospital in a medically induced coma after nearly drowning in the bathtub of her Georgia home. Drugs may or may not have been involved (police suspect they were), but the latest developments in the investigation hint at a much more sinister reality than an overdose.

There is now a criminal investigation underway and its target is Nick Gordon, who has been named the primary suspect. Gordon is Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend for some years now; despite claims in January 2014 that they had married in secret, it turns out this wasn’t the case.

The original story

On Saturday, a 911 call was placed from the house, with reports from the scene saying that Nick Gordon and a male friend, Max Lomas, had found Bobbi Kristina (aka Krissi) face-down in the tub. They started performing CPR on her and continued until the paramedics arrived and managed to revive her.

She was rushed to the hospital and put in a coma to allow her vitals to return to normal. Unconfirmed reports say that she’s showing minimal brain functions, but the family insists that she’s not brain dead. However, members of the family have already told the press that doctors have given up hope and informed them there was nothing more they could do for the 21-year-old.

The initial search by the police revealed no drugs “out in the open,” but a second search led to the discovery of illegal substances in the house. It was then that speculation online about Gordon’s part in these sad events started making the rounds, because it sounded as if he’d taken the time to hide the drugs from the cops, thinking he would be blamed for Krissi’s OD.

The reality is much sadder, cops believe

Max Lomas’ attorney is speaking to the press, in the aftermath of accusations that he, Lomas, too had played a part in Krissi’s “accident,” given that he was once arrested on suspicion of drugging his then-girlfriend to prevent her from leaving him.

It was Lomas who actually found Krissi’s body: he and Nick were hanging out at the house, but she was nowhere to be seen. Nick told him that she was in her bedroom, so he didn’t think of disturbing her.

Some time later, a cable guy came: at that moment, Nick had been gone for about 15 minutes, so Max opened the door and showed him in. Because the problem required that the cable guy had access to the bedroom, Max knocked and entered. He didn’t see Krissi, so he called out for her before eventually checking the bathroom and finding her submerged in water.

“He's actually the one that found her, and he called for Nick, screamed for Nick, and then he immediately called 911,” the attorney tells E! News.

Violent fight had taken place hours before

TMZ paints an even more gruesome picture of what happened at the house. Apparently, Nick and Krissi, who had a history of violent fights, had gotten into a brawl just shortly before she ended up in the bathtub face-down.

Sources close to the investigation reveal for the celebrity publication that authorities found injuries on Krissi’s body inconsistent with either theory circulated so far, namely that she drowned by accident or OD’ed on drugs.

The same report claims that Lomas has told cops that he saw Nick clean up blood from around the house before the paramedics and police arrived on the scene, presumably while he, Lomas, was performing.

He’s willing to testify to that if he gets immunity from prosecution, but as of the time of writing, he’s yet to strike a deal.
