Numerous clips showing crimes and car thieves were posted on the famous online video sharing service YouTube. Although the video product prohibits this kind of videos, several movies appeared on YouTube and attracted a considerable number of viewers. According to BBC News, one of the clips is recorded in Cardiff and shows a car thief commenting his actions and even laughing at the camera. Some of the clips are quite shocking but they show some real problems because most of them are recorded by teenagers. "I've got nothing else to do really, I haven't got a job and I'm not in college. There's nothing to do around here and anything that there is to do costs money and no one's got money. We just do it and if anything funny is happening we can look back and laugh," a recorded thief sustained in a clip according to the same source.

At this time, YouTube is more than a simple online video sharing service because it is often used with a different goal than the one presented by Google. For example, several police officers posted surveillance videos on YouTube to require the users' help and get important information about the suspects. After numerous members contributed to the investigations, the authorities managed to find the suspects and resolve important cases.

Sometimes, YouTube was even more than a video service or a police tool because it managed to rescue a woman's life. Although several users posted clips on YouTube to talk about their diseases, a woman uploaded a video to find a matching donor for a bone marrow transplant. After a lot of users commented on the clip and posted encouraging messages, she managed to find a matching donor in Denmark, and all of these thanks to YouTube.
