Acquired by major carrier AT&T, Cricket Wireless was recently re-launched in the United States with a new portfolio of devices, promotions and plans.

One of the first smartphones to make its debut at Cricket Wireless is LG’s Optimus L70 mid-range Android smartphone, which will go on sale beginning June 6.

Those interested in acquiring this handset will be overjoyed to know that Cricket offers the smartphone for only $50 (€37) outright, after a $50 (€37) mail-in-rebate via Cricket Visa Promotion card.

According to the carrier, this offer is only available for a limited time, so customers may want to hurry if they wish to secure their LG Optimus L70 units before the promotion ends.

The device launched by Cricket seems to be the carrier-branded version of LG L70, which was announced earlier this year and made its debut on the market only recently. You can check out our LG L70 Dual full review for more in-depth details on that model.

However, Cricket’s variant seems to come packed with 4G support, or at least that’s what the press release is saying. Other than that and the fact that Cricket's phone is single-SIM, there does not seem to be any other differences in terms of specs.

Apart from the fact that it comes with 4G support, LG Optimus L70 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is a nice surprise for a smartphone in such a low price range.

It also provides users with LG’s highly praised unique features, such as KnockCode, QuickMemo, and QSlide. The Optimus L70 also includes a notification LED that allows users to see if they have missed an event without having to wake up the smartphone.

The handset sports a decent 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

LG Optimus L70 is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, an Adreno 302 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. It also packs 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot and dual cameras (5-megapixel rear photo snapper and secondary VGA camera).

“Just a little over two weeks since we debuted the new Cricket Wireless, we’re excited to introduce a new device that will give our customers something to smile about. As promised, we will continue to deliver customers great offers and devices that won’t break the bank, as well as to provide greater value in their wireless experience. This is just the beginning; customers will see many more devices coming their way soon!” said Andy Smoak, Cricket Wireless’ AVP of product.
