Cricket Communications, Inc., the subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc., announced on Thursday the launch of the Motorola Evoke QA4 on its airwaves. The new handset comes with a 2.8-inch full touch-screen display and can offer users the possibility to stay connected at all times through its texting capabilities, enhanced both via a full touch-screen keyboard and a traditional alphanumeric keypad. In addition, the device delivers Web info directly onto the screen, while also offering users the possibility to customize the view through widgets and RSS feeds.

“When our customers ask us for a ‘smartphone,’ what they really want is access to personal email, fast Web browsing, great multimedia features and a cool phone form factor. Cricket has worked closely with Motorola to deliver the Evoke and the recently launched Motorola Hint QA30 devices that fit the desires of our customers but at a much more affordable price and no expensive service contract,” Jeff Toig, vice president of product marketing for Cricket, said. “In addition, Cricket’s 3G EVDO network allows our customers to take full advantage of Evoke’s many capabilities and features.”

The Motorola Evoke QA4 comes with a wide range of customization features, as the widgets enable users to quickly access important information, including Google Web Search, MySpace, YouTube, Picasa, or weather forecasts, in addition to benefiting from customizable RSS feeds. At the same time, the handset also includes a full HTML browser, and can offer users the possibility to upload pictures or videos taken with the phone's 2-megapixel photo snapper, directly to MySpace, blogs, or photo-sharing sites like Picasa.

The feature list of the Motorola Evoke QA4 also shows an integrated music player, a stereo Bluetooth connectivity, a USB 2.0, a Speakerphone, SMS and MMS support, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space, CDMA support and the 2.8" TFT Touch-screen that boasts a 240 x 400-pixel resolution and support for 65K colors. The handset measures 4.25" x 1.99" x 0.68" and weighs 4.52 oz, while including a 1170 mAh battery able to deliver up to 330 minutes of talk time and up to 475 hours of standby time.

“We designed the Motorola Evoke to give consumers multiple ways to stay in touch, whether they prefer IM-style texting, mobile blogging or simply a phone call to keep up with friends and family,” Dan Papalia, vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices, added. “With Cricket’s 3G network, customers can get instant gratification with real Web browsing, RSS feeds, one-click social networking and more.” Those that would like to purchase Motorola Evoke QA4 from Cricket will find it available for $299.99 on the company's site, but it is also expected to come to Cricket retail stores and Cricket dealers in the near future.
