The U.S. Secret Service managed to arrest 4 persons involved in a dangerous criminal gang from Florida that stole no less than 200.000 credit cards. It seems like they obtained approximately $75 million from the credit card frauds but they quickly redirected the money to other destinations as the investigators discovered only $10.000 in cash and a handgun. According to PC World, the four members were an important part of a huge gang from Europe because they received stolen credit cards for huge amounts of money.

"This case demonstrates the potential for online criminals to inflict significant damage on a global scale," special agent-in-charge William Sims, of the Secret's Service's Miami field office, said in the statement according to PC World. "What this shows is the transnational nature of the crime," he said. "This is a crime that moves across borders and is worldwide and is hitting the U.S. very hard," Christopher Pierson, member of the FBI's InfraGard security information-sharing program, added for the same source.

The credit card fraud is one of the most popular illegal activities nowadays because the attackers are aiming to earn money with ease as well as buying all kinds of products with others' funds. As I reported yesterday, the credit card fraudsters are now using a different technique because they are donating a small amount of money to charity in order to verify if a certain credit card is valid or not. This new method appeared because the authorities are rarely verifying this kind of transactions, so they can remain unidentified with ease.

The security, as a general term, is a very important matter because it is threatened in numerous domains by malicious people looking to obtain profits with ease. But the IT security attacks tend to become very popular because the computers are hosting all kinds of information that would allow the attackers to control anything they want.
