Do you remember Creative? I am sure you do, because most of us had a Creative Sound Blaster or at least a Sound Blaster-compatible sound card inside the computer, and they are not only limited to producing sound cards. Founded way back in 1981, Creative Technology Limited is a manufacturer of computer multimedia products based in Singapore that employs more than 5,000 people worldwide, at this time. The US subsidiary of the company is Creative Labs, Inc., but you should note that this name does not refer to the entire company, as often - and incorrectly - used.

During its history, the company became famous for their sound cards, and now they are also known for their line of portable multimedia players that includes the Zen and MuVo, but they continue to manufacture Web cameras, speaker systems and other computer accessories.

Although Creative's financial situation is not a really bright one at this time, the company couldn't have missed this year's Macworld, so they introduced the Xdock Wireless, a device able to dock an iPod and play music in Xtreme Fidelity - "beyond CD quality", as described by the company - using X-Fi Wireless Receivers in any room of your house. The Xdock is also able to connect directly to a powered speaker system or home theater system with the purpose of playing video, viewing photos and listening to music taking advantage of the DTS surround-sound available.

Using the X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D technologies, the Xtreme Fidelity sound can be sent by the Xdock Wireless up to 100 feet away without the need of a wireless network, via X-Fi Wireless Receivers. Specifically designed for use with the 5G iPod, iPod photo, iPod mini and iPod nano, the Xdock Wireless will be available this spring for a retail price of 199.99$, while the receiver will cost 99.99$.
