The team at The Creative Assembly, which is best known for its Total War franchise, has released a new developer diary linked to its Battles mobile spinoff, detailing how they plan to make the experience accessible on a range of devices that are very different from the PC.

Renaud Charpenter, who is the senior designer working on Total War Battles: Shogun, says, “This has to be a very accessible game. You have to be able to pick it up, learn it very straightforwardly.”

The concessions that Total War has made in order to morph into Battles: Shogun include changes to the look of units in order to make them visually distinct on small screens while also simplifying concepts in order to make them easier to pick up by players who were never exposed to the core series.

Recently Shogun 2 has received the stand alone Fall of the Samurai expansion on the PC.
