The temperature of the working environment is crucial to the quality of the work and this fact has been certified over and over again by people all around the world. However, not all offices around the world do have air conditioning and even in those that do have AC problems might occur, as some people have problems if the temperature is set at a very low level. This is the reason why people from Herman Miller launched in the first half of 2007 the C2 climate control system, a device that allows users to set their own climate parameters in their personal working space.

According to the manufacturer, the device uses advanced thermal electric technology and provides both heating and cooling settings, thus allowing users to adjust the temperature of their workspace at will. Moreover, C2 is quite energy-efficient, since it uses only 1.5 amps of DC power, 90 percent less energy than a typical space heater.

The climate control system is also quite easy to use, as its design encourages user control. All the users have to do is place the device at a distance of around 12-18 inches from them (30.48 cm to 45 cm) and turn it on. Setting it up, moving it around and adjusting the settings is also quite an easy task.

However, the C2 does more than just adjust the user's microclimate. Thus, the device also incorporates an air filter, capable of intercepting particles as small as five microns, like pollen, dust, and pet dander, its mechanical air filtration system being 80-90 percent better than a typical home furnace, according to the company's statement.

The device from Herman Miller is quite safe, as it doesn't have any exposed heating coils, chemicals, or harmful emissions. Moreover, it shuts down automatically after 4 hours of use, has an unlimited heating and cooling capacity and, since it doesn't need any water or recharging, it's virtually maintenance-free.

There's no word on the pricing yet, but this thing will be available starting with the summer of 2007, which is quite a good thing, especially since 2007 will presumably be the hottest year in recent history.
