The classic arcade game Crazy Taxi is now available to download on iPhone and iPad, bringing some of the frantic driving gameplay of the early ‘2000s to the touchscreen devices of 2012.

One of the best reckless-driving games ever released, Crazy Taxi puts players behind the wheel of a classic convertible with the goal to make money by any means possible.

“Barrel through traffic packed streets, hurdle off parking garages, and crazy combo your way to crazy money in a wild frantic race to scare up the most fares. In Crazy Taxi, time is money, and only the craziest cabbies come out victorious,” reads the official description.

The game has been remastered for mobile devices based on the popular Dreamcast Classic featuring extra large hills for extra long hang time and occasional deep sea exploration.

You can choose from 3, 5 or 10 minute game-play in Arcade Mode and Original Mode, or play in touch or tilt control modes.

As an added bonus, players get 16 mini-games while they rock out to original scores by The Offspring and Bad Religion. The rest of the key features are listed below.

- Parked transporters with conveniently angled ramps
- Painfully slow buses and cable cars to frustrate and annoy
- Listen to tracks from your own music playlist
- Game Center Leaderboard and Achievement support
- Universal Build - Buy once and play across multiple iOS devices

Crazy Taxi is rated 9+ for infrequent/mild cartoon or fantasy violence and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 4.3 or later.

Unfortunately SEGA didn’t have an iPhone 5 with them when they began coding the iOS port.

For now the game doesn’t display full-screen on the latest Apple smartphone, or the iPod touch (fifth-generation).
