14 DAY TRIAL // A 29-year-old woman from Texas has been arrested for trying to put up her son for adoption on Craigslist.
Stephanie Redus of Huffman has posted the ad mentioning that she no longer feels like her emotional state permits her to be a good mother.
She urges people to take the child away, details that she is a single mother and that she is struggling and even signs the post as “Desperate.”
Redus' son, Conner Danger Redus is three years old, USA-UK Online writes. The young mother tells police that it was a mistake on her part to post the ad and that she was never going to go through with it.
“Hi, I'm trying to adopt out my three year old son. I'm not in a good place in my life and don't feel like I can care for him properly, but I don't know where to start.
“If you or know anyone who is interested in caring for him please let me know. I'm a single mom and can't do this.
“Thanks, Desperate,” her posting reads.
She explains that she is pregnant with a second child and that she can no longer take her antidepressants during this time.
“I see the little boy over there playing in the swimming pool a couple of times and running around in his birthday suit. I can't see anybody putting their kid up for adoption on Craigslist of all things,” neighbor John Kirby comments.
WCSH 6 informs that she will be charged with a misdemeanor for the crime.
“[She] unlawfully intentionally and knowingly advertised in the public media, namely Craigslist, her son, Conner Danger Redus, for adoption,” police documents say.
She was caught when someone reported the add and an investigation into the owner of the account was launched. Police filed for a grand jury subpoena and found out the identity of the uploader.
