Although Belarusian repairman Dmitry Tihonenko set up his workshop in Minsk primarily to fix household appliances, he developed a passion for everything steampunk and started to transform regular, mundane items into fully functional steampunk works of art.

He takes boring, everyday appliances and converts them into wonderful masterpieces using his imagination, creativity and amazing skills. His own fridge, which he inherited from his grandmother, has been upgraded to look like a Steam-powered machinery. Actually, his entire kitchen is a collection of steampunk creations: a copper-bound table is standing next to a copper oven, while the microwave and the coffee machine are also covered in copper.

When you step into his living room, you are bound to be amazed by other stunning creations, as his flat screen TV, stereo and most of his furniture have all been given steampunk makeovers.

“The hobby with metal began in the army, when I served in the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea. On the ship, there are many details made of copper, which you regularly have to scrub. Gradually it turned into a habit,” Dmitry says of his passion, according to English Russia.

Apparently, the crafty man inherited this passion for working with metal from his father, who was a mechanic and was reportedly so good at his work that the parts made by him didn’t even have to go through a quality test.

After serving three years in the Navy, Dmitry started fixing household appliances and collecting antiques made of non-ferrous metals. He combined his two hobbies and created unique masterpieces that would make any house stand out. His first project was his grandmother's old fridge, and, while many of his creations can be seen in his own home, he is also working on custom orders.

And what's more surprising is that every remodeled appliance is fully functional and every lever and button serves a specific function, as he tries to make pieces that are not only beautiful, but also useful.

Undoubtedly, his most peculiar creation to date is his cell phone, a Nokia 6670 his wife Olga gave him many years ago. Transforming it into a steampunk work of art wasn't an easy feat, because metal blocks the signal.

The funny part about this story is that Dmitry only realized that his hobby actually had a name in 2011, when some guys in Moscow who were impressed with his work invited him to a steampunk festival.
