Phil Spencer, the leader of Microsoft Studios, says that his company might use the cloud computing power associated with the Xbox One in order to enhance the gameplay of a new entry in the Crackdown series.

The developer would not officially confirm that the game is in development, but he says that there are many new features on the next-gen console that could make the open world game better.

He tells Eurogamer that “the technology we're putting into Xbox One specifically around some of the cloud functionality, there's a real opportunity to take an open world game like Crackdown that allowed you to play with your friends, and roam to all corners of the city and still feel like you're playing together.”

A similar system is used by the upcoming Titanfall from Respawn Entertainment and by Bungie’s Destiny.

Crackdown 3 has been rumored to be in development since early 2013, and many fans expected to see an announcement at Gamescom.
