Bored with the features of today's portable media players? Cowon America (nice name!) announced that they will launch the Cowon Q5. This PMP will probably be the most networked PMP available by the end of Q2 2007 in the US. The device is supposed to have better connectivity choices than other PMPs, supporting
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access).
The Cowon Q5 boasts a five-inch widescreen LCD featuring a touch sensitive interface with Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 Professional operating system and a 400 Mhz AMD chipset Au 1200 processor.
It allows you to connect to the world wide web via Wi-Fi and HDSPA radios (only with Internet Explorer). The Bluetooth technology will also provide wireless connectivity to headphones and sharing if you own other Bluetooth devices. The gadget features built-in speakers, FM radio and can even be used as a DVR enabling TV shows recording.
Needless to say, it also doubles as an in-car GPS that's aimed at rich drivers that probably don't trust their common sense. You can optionally subscribe with TeleAtlas to get the map software, but there's no word about any park-assist or "night view" assist options.
It won't be a waste if you happen to be a cowboy. Here's how it will work in this case. A Cowon Q5 tied to the back of your horse will show you the way to your cows while you listen to the “Brokeback Mountain” soundtrack. How cuuute!
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
