Good news for Cowon's fans. The company's official representatives have recently announced their intentions of introducing the brand new D2TV portable device. Among other info regarding the new addition to the company's portfolio, it is said that the D2 player is going to be packed with 2GB, 4GB or 8GB internal storage capacity.
The best news is that the
new device can actually enable TV viewing on the go, directly from the PMP. For that, they even added a TV antenna, which is also detachable, for aesthetic reasons, I suppose. The specs seem to be pretty similar to the ones of the D2 player.
Besides various internal sizes, the portable device reveals a nice 2.5 inch LCD sensitive touch screen, which is among the player's main attractions. The display offers a 320 x o240 pixels resolution. Moreover, the player's extra options include an FM tuner/recording option, a line in feature, AV output, as well as the possibility to expand the internal memory capacity via the integrated SD/MMC card slot.
Regarding the player's capabilities, the Cowon D2TV is said to be able to deal with a lot of file formats such as AVI (MPEG4 ~ 2Mbps, 320x240 px, 30fps, MP3 audio), WMV (WMV9 ~ 768kbps, 320x240 px, 30fps, WMA audio), MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, WAV, APE and JPG.
No to mention they packed a real e-Book reader that can read TXT files. Its battery life is not bad either, as it was highly rated to last up to 45 hours for the MP3 and 7 hours in TV mode and up to 9 hours for the video lecture.
As size matters when purchasing a portable device, I suppose that 78 x 55.4 x16.6mm should be just about enough for a convenient player. It weighs no more than 91 grams, meaning it can be easily placed in just about any type of bag or purse. It works great on both Windows and Macs, so there should be no problem with its operating system.
And if you're thinking of buying one of these, you should start saving 230 bucks for the maximum 8GB player!
