As some of you might remember, back in late 2010, Cowon brought to the market its D3 Android-running MP3 player, that, only a month or so later, has already reached pre-ordering status, at least in the UK. While Cowon has managed to make a serious name for itself back when MP3 players were just about the coolest gadgets in one's collection, the emergence of smartphones and multimedia tablets has cut down some of its luster, but that's not stopping the company from attempting a comeback with their D3 model.

The first thing that has to be mentioned about the Cowon D3 is the fact that it runs the Android 2.1 operating system, that, combined with some of its other features (that we'll detail as follows), makes the device resemble more a MID (mobile Internet device) rather than anything else.

The player sports a 3.7-inch AMOLED touch-screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and 16-million colors, while also sporting a Wi-Fi module that enables users to easily browse the web and an accelerometer, meant to automatically adjust the display orientation depending on the way the user holds the player.

Moreover, the portable devices comes packed with a HDMI output connector (for hooking up the player to a HDTV), not to mention a Bluetooth module, a T-DMB tuner, FM tuner and recorder.

Additionally, the player also sports 32GB of internal memory, that can always be extended via the built-in micro SD card slot, easily supported by the player's NTFS file system.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to mention that, beside the 3.5-mm earphone jack, the player also sports a built-in speaker, so that users can share music with their friends.

As mentioned right from the start, the Cowon D3 has already gone up for pre-order in the UK (according to Slashgear), the estimated pricing being set at 280 pounds sterling (451 US dollars), while availability is set for February.
