CoveritLive, a live-event publishing platform owned by Demand Media, revealed that they recently discovered that a hacker may have illegally accessed their systems on January 7.

Launched in 2007, the company’s services are currently utilized by some major media firms such as ESPN, Fox, Gannett, Sky Sports, The Washington Post, and even Yahoo.

In an email sent to SecurityWeek, the company reports that they haven’t yet determined what account information has been accessed, but fortunately, they’re certain that no financial data has been compromised.

“Our investigation is ongoing, and, as a precautionary measure, we will implement required password resets for all active CoveritLive accounts,” CoveritLive informs customers.

Even though all account passwords are encrypted and there is no evidence to show that the hackers are using such data, users who own a CoveritLive account are advised to change their passwords, especially if they use the same email address and password combination on other sites.
