Courtney Stodden has taken a lot of criticism in the media and especially in the blogosphere for looking the way she does and particularly for marrying a man who is older than her father, when she was just 16 years old but she wants all her haters to know that, above all, she is a “true feminist.”

Though she claims she’s not a reality star and that she’s not working on her own reality series right now (though insiders would beg to differ), Courtney told Bethenny on her show the other night that she was just looking forward to living her life as a regular 19-year-old.

A video from the interview is also available below: the feminist comment doesn’t come until the end because, in the first part of it, Stodden talks about her plans for her future and how a career is on the second place right now.

As for criticism she’s always getting for sending out a degrading message to women and for turning herself into a pleasure object, Courtney believes it’s all a matter of perspective.

“I love the way I look. I think that's all that matters. I think that can empower other people too from hearing that. I know people might think this is funny but I actually feel that I am a true feminist because I believe in women looking the way they want to look, I think real women support women,” she says.

Courtney says she never judges a book by its cover and she expects others to do the same where she’s concerned. At least she deserves extra points for honesty, Bethenny notes, for being frank about the things she’s had done and for owning the fact that she deliberately looks like a professional exotic dancer.

In the same interview, Courtney denies reports that she’s coming out with a book and, in the process reveals a (probably) startling fact about herself: “I don’t read or write,” she giggles. Are you surprised?
