I remember watching a horror movie about a haunted hotel room a while ago and I admit it really managed to give me a few good scares. I mean, just as the main character says at one point, hotel rooms are naturally creepy places, and the whole "I wonder who slept in this bed before me" thing really works if you start thinking about it while lying in the dark. But no more of that, as I just learned a piece of news that blasted all my fears away in an instant. You see, it turns out that being haunted is NOT the worst thing that can happen to a hotel room.
Courtney Love, however, is any hotel manager's nightmare. The former Hole front woman has managed to get herself banned from London's Claridge's Hotel after starting a fire in a £1.630-per-night suite on her last visit. Love reportedly contacted the exclusive Mayfair hotel again and was refused a room. Well, there's no blaming them - after all, they're simply protecting their private property from being wrecked any further.
"Courtney is desperate to stay in Claridge's again, but when her people tried to get her a suite it was a no go. Even the best known fixers in the business can't get her in there", a source stated for the Daily Mirror. "When Courtney's name was mentioned they were told it was fully booked. But when her people rang up again requesting the same dates under a different name they were told there were a number of suites available".
The fire started because Courtney was smoking a cigarette in her Claridge's suite when the fire broke out on her last visit. The room had to be redecorated and a fire marshal was reportedly posted outside her suite and stationed there for the remainder of her stay.
Also, setting fire to a room at Claridge's was not Courtney's only offense against a five-star London hotel. In July, the rocker celebrated her 43rd birthday by reportedly getting drunk and "wildly" wrecking her £495-a-night Covent Garden Hotel suite. A source said: "staff said the room was left in a right state - like a wild animal had been let loose in there. She had used the place as an ashtray with butts strewn about and burn marks all over the bed, carpet and upholstery. I feel sorry for whoever had to clear it up".
