Remember last week when dear old Courtney couldn't keep her mouth shut about distressed Owen Wilson? It's not news that the former Hole front woman likes to spark up trouble big time and she did just that when she pointed the finger of blame at British comedian Steve Coogan, whom she blamed for Wilson's descent into drugs and ensuing suicide attempt. While it seems that at least some of her allegations weren't completely mistaken - Coogan being indeed a notorious druggie whose heavy drinking, drug abuse and insatiable sexual appetite destroyed his marriages and endangered his career - Love also decided to spill the beans on another notorious drug addict - Amy Winehouse.
Looks like Love likes her celebrities fresh - fresh from scandals involving drug and alcohol binges, that is. And while the story on Wilson is old news already, she picked on everyone's favorite druggie, troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, about whom she allegedly stated to some friends: "[she] does more drugs than anyone I've known. I've been with lots of people when they've taken coke, including stars like Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss. But I've never seen anyone take as much coke as Amy. Even I wasn't that bad". And while we're sure that comparing Amy with herself is no compliment to Miss Wino, Love sure sounds like she is looking for another scandal, and fast.
But the fact that Coogan will most likely sue her for the statements he deems as false has probably made Love think twice and she went public denying she had ever said such a horrible thing about Winehouse. She told music publication NME that "I said no such thing. I care deeply about her talent, I love this record tons, but I wouldn't comment even if I did have any knowledge. My deepest apologies to anyone who believes this nonsense, that I would judge or fingerpoint unless I felt that [many] people's lives were on the line".
Hmm...is it just me or is the last part some sort of shrouded apology for the going public on Wilson, whom she claims to see as a dear friend? Could be, as she ranted off her story exactly after the poor man had asked to be left alone. But even though she denies it, I'm not sure too many of us will buy the fact that she kept her big mouth shut about Amy Winehouse.
"I keep my own counsel about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll and I do not judge others unless I know they are a danger to other people beloved in my own life. If that's the case then they'd better watch out. Otherwise my philosophy is super simple: live and let live". Yes, all that sounds very nice and all, and I'm sure Steve Coogan would agree with you. But in the meantime, I can't help wondering what made Love deny her earlier statements - it can't be that she fears retaliation form Amy, who in any case is probably way too stoned to care. It may be that Love does know things - in which case, we can only hope she gives us the real stuff, not just insinuations and allusions.
