He's 12 years younger, a musician and he's called Johnny McDaid

It's hard not to make comparisons with the TV show “Cougartown,” in which Courteney plays a middle-aged woman who's into younger men, when Ms. Cox is seen parading around town with her new boyfriend, who happens to be “just” 12 years younger.

The 49-year-old actress was seen hand in hand with new boyfriend Johnny McDaid, a 37-year-old member of the Snow Patrol band. The couple was spotted going to Jennifer Aniston's holiday bash, which took place in Bel Air this weekend.

As they arrived at the star-studded party, Courteney Cox was seen in the driver's seat, with Johnny sitting by her side, in the seat on the right. There are also reports from people who attended the party that the two were even holding hands.

Little is known about Cox's singer boyfriend, apart from the fact that he's in a band, he's from Northern Ireland but relocated to LA to collaborate on Ed Sheeran's next album. He's also said to be best pals with Harry Styles of One Direction, which would explain why Harry took the time to ask people on Twitter to vote for Cox for People's Teen Choice Awards this week.

Apart from his passion for Courteney, Johnny is said to have a sensitive side proven by a Gaelic tattoo on his upper left arm that translates to “When I need to get home, you’re my guiding light,” a reference to his father who passed away in July 2011.

Courteney has been previously linked to “Cougartown” co-star Brian Van Holt. Before that, she had been married to fellow actor David Arquette since 1999. They were divorced in 2013 and ever since then the press has been trying to link the “Friends” star with a number of men in Hollywood.

Only time will tell if this coupling was just a case of picking up a date so you don't show up alone at a party, or if it's really a love story in the making.
